Celine
Dion released a new French album "1
fille & 4 types" which from the first days of the release
has been enjoying raving reviews from the critics. A great news
and a great album indeed! We've
spoken about what it means for Celine to sing in French in the
previous issue of the newsletter.
Today we are going to be looking at something that has been a
source of embarrassment for some, and quite a surprise for others.
We'll be talking about BLOND Celine Dion!
To
avoid adding to the circulating rumors and stuff, we'll be taking
our own look at the photos, analyzing the context and trying to
read the background. A blond Celine? What the heck is going on?!

A
blond Celine Dion... What the heck is going on?!
A
change of style which left speechless even the most passionate
and die-hard fans of Celine Dion - Celine cut her hair short and
went completely... blond!
 The
effect of this transformation has been a mixed one. No one really
liked it, apart from Celine herself and the media.
The
media "loved" it because they had a fantastic opportunity
to trash Celine Dion again and again. A series of direct insults
appeared in the magazines, radio shows, etc.
Celine
said she liked her new look because it was very practical. But
in the end I think even she herself became skeptical if she did
it right. In one of her interviews she defended her short blond
hair do by saying that "if it is all in the hair, then I
am in a big trouble".
The
audience which suffered the most were the fans of Celine. They
didn't really know how to react. On one hand, very few liked Celine's
new style, on the other hand, this was the same beloved Celine...
Celine Dion haters were taking over the message boards and discussion
groups. The fans started feeling abandoned.
While
the media hype about the new hair is calming down and Celine is
growing longer hair (it's noticeably longer and less blond in
her latest French video "Je t'aime encore") the question
that remains is the same - WHY DID CELINE WANT TO CUT HER HAIR
AND BECOME BLOND?
While
nobody really knows, these are the theories based on our own conclusions:
- The
Las Vegas Theory - Celine cut her hair when she was
about to start her three year, five day a week show. Imagine
how much time she'd have to spend in front of her mirror doing
her hair? She probably thought she could spare a lot of time
by cutting it short, and spend this time wiser. It's Las Vegas,
for heavens sake :-)
- The
Conspiracy Theory - Celine was ill-advised, and agreed
to cut her hair short.
- Gentlemen
Prefer Blondes Theory: Well, this comes very close
to the Conspiracy Theory.
- It
Will Grow Back Theory: Celine thought that she needed
a change in her life. So she decided to cut her hair in a dramatic
way, thinking that if it is too dramatic, it will grow back
anyway, so what the heck!
- A
New Day Theory: Celine arrived in Las Vegas with her
long hair and realized that she was the only one who looked
normal in the city, so she decided to do something crazy in
the spirit of Las Vegas, and that's how she went blond. Apparently
it worked as her show is permanently sold out.

Very often in my dreams I'm singing with Celine on stage and then
I speak with her in fluent French, although I don't speak French
at all. I want to learn this language, because I love it, but
how can it be possible that I already know it in my subconsciousness?
