"I had a dream that it was the night before Celine's concert my partner and I were supposed to go out to another function. At the last minute my partner got sick and couldn't go. I had to go anyway and when I got to the function I saw Celine sitting on her own at the back of the venue just watching the band and listening to their music.
I sat beside her and began talking to her about all matter of things including her personal life...she had broken up with Rene and Rene-Charles was living with another family member as Celine was unable to cope. I told her how much of a fan my partner was and would she be able to meet her before the show, unfortunately she could not.
Then she said how lovely it was to meet me but was sorry she had to go. I walked her out to her car, she gave me a hug goodbye and went off on her merry way."
Interpretation
Cara, what I find interesting about your dream experience is that it's your partner who is a huge fan of Celine Dion, but it's you who get to dream about the diva. Very curious. In fact I tend to think that Celine Dion is the alter ego of your partner and stands for her in your dream. Try to re-read the dream replacing "Celine Dion" with "my partner".
In the very beginning of your dream you were left alone to go to a function. Your partner couldn't accompany you due to illness. At the function you met Celine. You spoke to her about some very personal things such as break up, loneliness, etc. You seemed to have had a good contact with Dion, yet she refused to do you a favor when you asked her. She was unavailable.
You know, Cara, dreams are messengers from the unconscious. They tell us how we feel deep-deep inside. Your dream is a succession of frustration episodes caused by unavailability. You seemed to be alone all the time in your dream. Alone at the function, alone after the function. You are cool about it in your own "merry way", but you are visibly looking for company and questioning in a way your partner's ability to be there for you when you need her.
