"I
have been an avid fan [of Celine] since she was first introduced
on the Joan Rivers Show. I sing also and find myself picking up
her stylings or inflections. I had this dream a long time ago
as well, but it sticks with me. I don't remember how I got in
this situational dream but I was both bothered by it and at the
same time it was a turn on. Here is the dream.
Celine
and I were surrounded by nothing, it was just us standing or moving
around each other. She was singing so beautifully and as I closed
my eyes (in the dream) to listen to her voice. She moved closer
to me, so close that I could feel her breath around me. I felt
intoxicated by her. When I opened my eyes she was in front of
me and we were almost in an embrace, we were so close. In closing
I am a happily married woman with three beautiful children and
I admit she is attractive but I don't swing that way.”

You
entitled your dream “Celine’s breath”, and I
believe the key to the interpretation lies right there. Breath.
Some
say that Celine Dion has the best pair of lungs in the world.
That’s a funny, but not a totally incorrect way to refer
to a singer who has a powerful five-octave voice. You say that
you, like Celine, sing and find that Celine’s singing style
has influenced yours. In fact, you'll see that this influence
is expressed in other more subtle ways as we continue the analysis.
You
also admitted that the dream bothered and turned you on at the
same time. I can see why it bothered you. For someone who is happily
married with three kids, your dream has a breath of scandal. And
you seem to be rather embarrassed about the seemingly sexual character
of your dream. But is your dream really a sexual fantasy?
There’s
a certain degree of sensuality in the dream, indeed, as you allow
Celine to intoxicate you with her voice. But it seems to be an
effect, rather than the cause of the dream. The
act of singing is a sensual act if you think about it as a vibration
(of vocal cords).
Breath
is a life force. With our first breath we arrive into this world,
with the last one, we depart. Jung at some point referred to life
force as “libido” releasing it from Freud’s
exclusively sexual definition.
Can
it be that you have a secret wish to have Celine’s vocal
power? It might be that this wish, disguised as a sexual impulse
triggered the dream and scared the hell out of you. Through this
dream, your mind gave voice to that unspoken wish of yours. In
order to draw your attention the mind "dressed up" the
wish in a sexy "outfit", so you'd finally notice and
may be acknowledge it. And you did :) Dream on!
